Ardenwood Farm

1. Sasha and the Drone Buddies at Ardenwood Farm
One sunny Saturday, Sasha and the Drone Buddies went to Ardenwood Historic Farm.
"Look at the big white barn!" Sasha shouted. "And the chickens! And the train tracks!"
The Drone Buddies zipped and hovered in excitement.
- Watery made big loops in the air.
- Fireye played a welcome song.
- Slymeye blinked in red-white-blue like the flag on the farm fence.

2. The Great Chicken Escape
Near the coop, Sasha saw a sign that said:
"DO NOT LEAVE GATE OPEN!"
Uh-ohβ¦ the gate was openβand chickens were everywhere! They pecked, flapped, and even tried to get into a stroller.
"Dron Buddies, round-up time!" said Sasha.
- Icy darted around herding chickens gently like a drone-sheepdog.
- Watery whirled above to guide them back.
- Fireye played a calm cluck-cluck lullaby.
Soon, the chickens were safely inside again.
Notes for Sasha:
- π Baby chickens are called chicks. They are tiny, fluffy, and adorable!
- π Chickens canβt fly very far. They can flap and jump a little, but not like big birds.
- π Hens lay eggs. Some hens lay one egg almost every day!
- π Roosters are boy chickens. They often crow with a loud "cock-a-doodle-doo!" especially in the morning.
- π Chickens have excellent memories. They can remember over 100 different faces β people and animals!
- π Chickens love to take dust baths. They roll around in dirt to stay clean and get rid of bugs.
- π Chickens talk to each other. They make over 30 different sounds to say things like "watch out!" or "look, I found food!"

3. The Wooly Parade
Next came the sheep pen. Sasha leaned on the fence and watched the sheep munching on hay.
One sheep had a bucket on its head!
"Oh no, buddy!" Sasha said.
- Icy carefully lifted the bucket off.
- Slymeye made sparkles on the ground to cheer the sheep up.
- Fireye played a tiny round of applause.
- π Baby sheep are called lambs. They're super cute and fluffy!
- π Sheep have wooly coats. People use their wool to make warm clothes like sweaters.
- π Sheep have really good memories. They can remember faces of other sheep and people for years!
- π They have rectangular pupils. That means their eyes are shaped like a rectangle, which helps them see almost all around them.
- π Sheep eat grass all day. They are herbivores, meaning they only eat plants.

4. The Historic Train at Ardenwood
As the sun started to set, Sasha heard the whistle of the historic train at Ardenwood.
"Let's wave goodbye!" he said.
- Watery did a big loop-de-loop.
- Fireye played a train song.
- Slymeye blinked choo-choo in rainbow lights.
- Rocky grumbled... but waved.
- Icy zipped a heart shape in the sky.
The passengers waved back, smiling at the boy and his buzzing friends.
The sky glowed orange. The animals settled in. And Sasha held his mom's hand while the Drune Buddies flew quietly overheadβhis own little cloud of buzzing best friends.
Notes for Sasha:
- π The train at Ardenwood is really, really old
- π Sometimes trains used to be pulled by horses! Imagine a horse saying, "Giddy-up, choo-choo!"
- π The train doesn't go super fast. It's like a slow turtle on tracks β so you can wave to all the bunnies and birds!
- π When you ride the train, you go past farms, trees, and maybe even some sneaky squirrels watching you.
- π Train rides make everyone smile β even the scarecrows in the fields! (If they could smile, they totally would!)
- π The train is powered by history magic β and nice volunteers who take care of it like a big toy!
